About the project
Zibi is a 34-acre master planned community bordering the Ottawa River in the heart of the National Capital Region. Following hundreds of years of industrial operations, the lands are being redeveloped as the most sustainable community in Canada by adhering to all 10 principles of the world-class One Planet Living framework – from eliminating GHG emitting energy sources to encouraging social equity.
Zibi Block 206 is envisioned as an elegant tower on a commercial podium, which opens onto the adjacent Head Street Square. The building has been designed to include 45 co-living units in the podium, the equivalent of 2 floors of social housing for Ottawa Community Housing (19 units) and 140 market-value rental units, all sharing common indoor and outdoor amenity spaces at the 25th floor and 3rd floor podium roof (which is an interior and roof terrace). In addition, it includes fully adaptable and accessible units to CMHC standards (i.e. in excess of OBC/OADA), market value units with a combination of 1 and 2 bedroom units. The building also offers a community garden to be enjoyed by residents and visitors, which will use a collection of rainwater so it’s not using municipal water and resources.
